This year marks the 5th year in a row that Clockwork has been named one of the Twin Cities Best Places To Work. There are many awards worth pursuing in this industry, but for a number of reasons, this is an award that we not only really appreciate, but take very seriously. You may or may not know that this award is the result of a survey distributed to the staff - so it's not based on what we say we are, but what *they* say we are. For obvious reasons, we feel like that is the real honor. And the Best Places To Work award serves our business very well. It helps us attract talented professionals when we're looking to staff up. It's always a solid point of conversation in new business and at networking events. We never take for granted how lucky we are to be included on such a distinguished list of progressive, successful organizations.

Clockwork recently hosted a UPAMN event entitled, "Neuro Web Design - What Makes Them Click?", presented by Dr. Susan Weinschenk. Dr. Weinschenk's application of Psychology to technology and her work in the field of User Experience Strategy is compelling and engaging. In her presentation, she discussed the mind's ability to make unconscious decisions and what that means for us as Information Architects and User Experience Designers.

Over the past few months I've been on a journey through the world of online social monitoring tools. The task was one I'd taken on before (about 18 months ago), and it's enough to make anyone's head spin. So, what is the best monitoring tool out there?

There is a lot of scuttle butt about Apple's recent changes to the terms of their Software Development Kit (SDK) for the iPhone and iPad. Some developers have gone so far as to abandon the platform as a result. The straw that broke the camel's back is the addition of language that prohibits development in anything other than "originally written Objective-C, C, C++, or JavaScript", eliminating Adobe's Flash from being able to produce iPhone apps, and cutting the knees out from other "write-once, deploy-everywhere" technologies.
There is much speculation that this is just collateral damage in Apple's war with Adobe. Apple has never liked Flash and has kept it off of their mobile platform. There are better places to catch up on the background if you need it, so let's jump right into our opinion of the recent developments.

Come down to the Clockwork service station [map] on May 20th from 5-9pm for our springtime jam. Mingle with us — and our clients, friends and neighbors!

We're constantly talking to each other about what's new: a project we're working on, a new site we're obsessed with, or some other geekery. We figured, why not share those conversations with you?
Welcome to our collective mind.
